Shefford
Shefford is a Minor Service Centre situated towards the middle part of Central Bedfordshire (North) area. Although it is not a large town it provides a number of local services for residents within the local catchment area. The town will continue to build on its role as a Minor Service Centre. In order to achieve this, new allocations are made for an additional 150-250 new dwellings and 2-4 hectares of employment land. New recreational open space will also be provided during the plan period.
The former Shefford Town Football Club site on Ivel Road, Shefford, was allocated in the Local Plan (Policy H08(19)) for housing development. Planning permission has now been granted for 59 dwellings. The amount of housing was not previously included within the housing trajectory. These 59 dwellings will therefore count towards the total allocations required to be met through this Site Allocations DPD.
